Ανακοίνωση EANS

Dear national delegates of the EANS,

we currently conduct a survey among board-certified neurosurgeons in Europe – across all age groups – asking them to indicate some basic demographics and information about the number of surgical procedures conducted until the end of residency. The survey is supported by the EANS Young Neurosurgeons and the EANS Training Committee.

These data should

– shed some light on the possible change of training over the years (e.g., influence of European working time directive?)

– provide actual numbers, which should be useful for future neurosurgeons to compare their own numbers and surgical training

– be useful for decision-making pertaining to the future direction of neurosurgery training in Europe

We would like to ask you to distribute the survey among colleagues in your country. Maybe there is a mailing list of the National Society or other ways of communication to reach out to as many as possible? If not, please forward it to the departments/colleagues/friends that you collaborate with. Your efforts will be greatly appreciated. Please note that – in case you don’t oppose to this – your name is planned to be listed as contributor for this study (with name listed in Pubmed, as well). Should you wish to get even more involved for an authorship position, please contact us.

The survey takes some time, mostly as it requests detailed information about the number of surgical procedures. If this is well-documented, however, the survey can be finished within 10-15min of time. All neurosurgeons, who invest their time to provide this data, have the possibility to indicate their name and get it listed as contributor/in PubMed, as well.

Thank you for considering to support this project!
